EastEnders spoilers have revealed that love could be in the air when the soap returns later this year for one character, as Jake Wood has teased that there could be a new romance on the cards for Max Branning. It hasn’t been an easy year for Max, as his relationship with Ruby Allen came to an end in the final episodes of the soap before it was taken off air.
Their relationship always seemed destined to end in tears, and that proved to be true when Max lost all trust in Ruby after she continued to flirt with Martin Fowler. The tensions between Martin and Max have been well documented in the soap, so it would have no doubt stung Max that Ruby was attracted to him.

Jake Wood was appearing on Good Morning Britain to talk about the soap’s return to filming and what measures were in place to ensure that the social distancing measures would be respected. Wood took the show behind the scenes to showcase the new set, before teasing what could be on the horizon for his character.
There were fears throughout Max and Ruby’s relationship that it was never really going to work, and that rung true when they broke up a number of weeks ago. The couple never really put a label on their relationship, which led to Ruby believing that they were in an open relationship. The tension between them was huge, and the break-up was the least surprising thing that has happened in the world of soap this year.

However, while appearing on Good Morning Britain, Wood revealed that his character isn’t going to give up on romance just yet, and may have his sights set on another character in Walford. Wood did reveal that embarking on a new relationship may be testing given the new measures that are in place.
The measures mean that actors will have to stand two metres apart, which means that the characters in the soap will not be kissing or hugging in any of the scenes over the next couple of months. Regardless, Max will still have a new love interest, which means fans will be interested to see how this is shown in the soap.
