It’s without a doubt that the entire daytime television world is still mourning the loss of one of the most talented actors of the industry: Kristoff St. John. The Young and the Restless star unexpectedly passed away in his Woodland Hills, California home during the early hours of Monday morning. He was just 52 years old.

And now his co-stars are opening up about his death, including actor Eric Braden, who plays Victor Newman on the hit CBS soap. He admits that Kristoff’s death has hit him very hard as he is continuing to come to terms with the loss of his dear friend.

Speaking to Extra TV, Eric couldn’t help but shed tears in front of the cameras as he recalled seeing two different sides to Kristoff. Eric knew that something wasn’t right. Speaking about how Kristoff struggled to cope with the loss of his son Julian, Eric said, “At first he seemed okay, almost as if nothing happened, and I thought, ‘He is suppressing something deeply…’ He began to succumb under the weight of that until it ended in his death.”

Eric also revealed that Kristoff did his best to mask his pain, even though it was very difficult for him at times. “He lived kind of a double life,” Eric continued. “He suppressed that pain, enormous pain and anger with the institution where Julian was where he died, and he came to work and ‘the show must go on,’ as you say — you just change gears and say, ‘Okay, let’s go,’ and everything personal that bothers you comes to the fore later on.”
