Cennet spoilers indicate family secrets are a big story. And they seem to be connected, to an extent. As the series continues, we’re learning more about one in particular. Cennet spoilers: Secret’s out
So, we talked a little bit about Nilgün Arısoy (Çiçek Acar) and the secret surrounding Selim Arısoy (Berk Atan). In a recent episode, Nilgün freaked out because she found a music box hidden in a drawer. Cengiz Arısoy (Şencan Güleryüz) had left if there, because he didn’t want to destroy something of Selim’s past. Given how she also reacted to the accident that he and Melisa Soyer (Zehra Yılmaz) had, we figured something weird was up. And it turns out, it definitely was.
Cennet spoilers reveal that Selim does seem to be taking the place of a dead child. In the Friday episode, Nilgün panicked when she discovered Selim never came home the night before. This led to an argument with Cengiz, where he finally had enough. This revealed that the other Selim died in an accident, and Nilgün was the cause. She apparently had an addiction problem and popped too many pills before getting behind the wheel. This leads to only one real possibility we can see.
Cennet spoilers: Coverup
Selim looks about the right age, based on the dates we saw on the other’s grave marker. Considering Selim is clearly adopted and Nilgün isn’t rotting in a jail somewhere, we’re pretty sure he used whatever power and connections he has to cover the crime up. The got another kid they call Selim as well. This leaves the family free from scandal, as well as keeping Nilgün from being punished any more than she’s obviously punishing herself.
The thing is, we’re not sure he did her any favors. Based on the behavior we mentioned before, she’s clearly being eaten alive by guilt over this, and maybe doesn’t have much of a grip on reality. He might have done her more harm than good, if he did actually cover it all up and get a new kid to take their child’s place. But the Selim we know is about to play a big part in another family secret. And we think it could lead to some unintended consequences.

Cennet spoilers: Helper
Selim is obviously drawn to Cennet Yılmaz (Almila Ada). He’s been going out of his way to help her with different things. In fact, he didn’t come back home before because he spent the night at the hospital with Cennet, who’s waiting for news about Mukaddes Yilmaz (Güler Ökten). In the meantime, she’d shown him the brooch Mukaddes handed her and said belonged to her mother. Selim promised Cennet he’ll help her find who it belongs to, as he thinks it looked like a custom piece. On Friday, he visited a jeweler about it. From what we’ve seen of him so far, we expect Selim to crack the case and expose who Arzu really is. When he does, we think this might help unlock some more of his own memories.
It’s only a matter of time, really. He’s already flashed back to childhood at least once. Plus, when Cengiz was listening to the music box, Selim heard some notes before Cengiz put it away. He remembered the song, although he couldn’t be sure where from. Despite the excuse Cengiz gave, we think Selim’s involvement with Cennet and her own family issues will be the final straw that exposes where he came from.
