Katie and Derek were a fan favorite at the beginning, but the more they got to know each other, things just started to fade out for them. Katie wanted more of an emotional connection and some intimacy. Derek was very supportive of her and her needs, but didn’t want to be intimate if it felt forced. Katie wanted so much from him, but fans think that he worked really hard, whereas Katie didn’t really do things to show her husband that she loved him.

Derek recently shared with Screen Rant, “Other than cooking every so often, Katie has been an amazing help with keeping me sane and relaxed whenever I stay up into the week hours of the morning as I studied for grad school classes.” It is interesting that he made this statement, just as we saw the trailers for next week’s reunion episode. In the spoilers, Derek claims that Katie cheated on him. This is why we are not quite sure if these two will stay married.
We always know spoilers can try to sway us in one direction and generally they are right, but you never know, especially with Married at First Sight! It is nice to know that Katie has been helping Derek stay sane now that he is studying for grad school classes and trying to do his best with that. Many viewers of the show saw that these two had some issues when it came to talking about Katie’s ex. Some think that she is still hung up on him and that may be the man she cheated with.
We will find out what happens on the reunion episode. We really hope to see these two still together, but you never know what you will get with Katie and Derek. The new episode will air on the Lifetime network on Wednesday, April 22 at 8 p.m. EST. We do hope to see the other couples as well and see how their marriages are working out.
