CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal it’s easy to get caught up in our favorite characters’ adventures and think of the actors behind them in much the same way. Separating fact from fiction can be difficult when it comes to someone we really love or really love to hate. In this case, we’re taking a deeper look into one of our favorites, Donny Boaz (Chance Chancellor).

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers (Y&R): Cutthroat Showbiz

The acting business is full of those that tried to make it but fell to the wayside, and others that did make it but were cast off when they were no longer viable.

The business has been portrayed everywhere as cutthroat and for good reason. Someone’s friend today could be one’s enemy tomorrow. It is a living, breathing soap opera, and probably not as fun as we at CBS The Young and the Restless Spoilers make it sound. And into the stepped Donny Boaz.

He’s made a name for himself as a helper of aspiring actors from giving advice to helping others fine-tune their performance. In a recent interview in CBS Soaps In Depth, he talked about his time on the biopic My All-American where he played the University of Texas’ quarterback and was surrounded by 90 or more extras. According to him, “They were wondering how they could get into acting.”

Being the helpful type, he wrote an email explaining how they could work in the entertainment industry in Texas and the Southeast. “Texas is the No. 1 independent film market. You can make $50, $100 a day on some film somewhere if you want it,” he wrote.

In the interview, he continued, “There were guys who were like, ‘I got an audition in Houston!’ And there were those saying, ‘Houston? But that’s a three-hour drive. I can’t do that!’ Those were the ones I told, ‘Then you don’t want it!’ From 2007 to ’09, I probably drove 50,000 miles a year from Dallas to Austin and back again — on the same day — because I was hungry!”

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers (Y&R): You Can Lead A Horse To Water, But…

It’s great he’s so open about what he experienced and is willing to give others advice on how to get their acting career started. While many probably expect to hit it off with him and be given a walk-on role, his insight alone is worth its weight in gold. It gives others an idea of what’s expected and not to expect a free ride just for knowing someone. Who knows, it may even have kickstarted a few that were on the line into taking the first step that could lead to them being on our screens someday. CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ spoilers may even be writing about them one day, so good luck to anyone attempting that, and thank you, Donny Boaz, for the lending hand.
