As we’ve seen over the last few days, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) have been struggling with their long-distance relationship while Tessa’s touring with Tanner Watts (Chase Coleman). It doesn’t help when Mariah’s professional life has hit the skids.

Relationships are difficult to maintain at the best of times in our shows as there’s always a betrayal or some other problem waiting to pop up and ruin our favorite characters’ lives.
For Mariah, things have gotten harder in a matter of minutes as her video call with Tessa was interrupted by Tanner, who picked the perfect moment when Mariah’s trying to convince Tessa she’s fine to jump in and say hi. While it was jarring for Mariah, the fact he did so with ease, like he and Tessa were the couple and Mariah was Tessa’s friend.
It took Mariah a few to settle down after that, but there’s always something more at stake. Nothing’s ever simple with these people, is it? Would it kill the writers to give them a happy moment that lasts more than a couple of days or beyond a time jump? Happy endings every now is a good thing.
Anyway, to top of her frustration, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) arrived for a business meeting and informed Mariah that he’s shutting down Power Communications. Confused once again because her branch was bringing in money, Mariah learned the company as a whole wasn’t making enough to sustain itself for the long-term. The news leaves Mariah without a job, and despite Devon’s promise to help her find another job, things don’t look good. Thankfully, Lindsay (Kirby Bliss Blanton) is at the bar to give her a stiff drink and a friendly ear.

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Tessa’s Is Taking Off
While it’s easy to lose herself in living her dream of touring and performing in front of thousands of fans, Tessa is concerned about Mariah. She believes their time apart is getting to Mariah.
Seeing she’s distracted, Tanner decided to share something he wasn’t supposed to and informed Tessa that his label’s interested in her. It’s another part of her dream come true, but she’s apprehensive.
While flattered, she’s concerned that Tanner is looking to use this as a way for them to reconnect. He denied it, insisting he respects their friendship but we all know that seeds have been planted.
Tessa eventually agreed to talk with his people, furthering her career and unknowingly putting more distance between her and Mariah.
Tessa is expected to be back in Genoa City in the near future for an all-too-brief visit. She’ll be excited about her career opportunities while Mariah will most likely still be unemployed.
