‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers suggest that all signs are pointing to Joy Wesley’s (AlexAnn Hopkins) eventual return to Salem with Alex Kiriakis’ (Robert Scott Wilson) surprise baby.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Alex and Joy Had a Brief but Intense Romance
DOOL fans know that Alex and Joy had a brief but intense romance. Joy and Alex quickly developed a bond during the time when Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) was dating Philip Kiriakis (John Paul Lavoisier).
Alex and Joy developed a strong bond, and there was some chemistry between them. They also co-starred on the soap within a soap, Body and Soul. However, Alex’s love for Stephanie never wavered.
Joy was heartbroken when Alex reunited with Stephanie. Yet, when she discovered she was pregnant with Alex’s baby, she lied and told them the test came back negative.
She fled to New York after quitting her new role at Titan. Her exit was abrupt and oddly written, and the story has remained unresolved ever since.
That said, in a recent episode of DOOL, Stephanie and Alex were spending time with Chanel Dupree DiMera (Raven Bowens) and her new baby, Trey DiMera Joseph Ihlenf and Jordan Perdue), when it became clear that Alex and Stephanie aren’t on the same page.
Stephanie made a comment that the best part of baby-sitting was when you give the kid back to the parents. Alex wondered if she really meant it.
She responded that, since her writing career had recently taken off, she wasn’t anywhere near ready to be a mom. Stephanie is, after all, the one and only Anastasia Sands. Alex was surprised by her answer.
The conversation hinted that Joy may soon return with Alex’s baby. We could also see Joy coming back with a SORASED kid, which would be on brand for a soap.

Yet, Stephanie and Alex are a happy couple. It would definitely shake up their romance to have Joy suddenly return to tell Alex, “Hey, surprise! You’re a dad!”
It would really be soapy if Joy returned as the baby was facing a medical crisis of some sort or needed something like a transfusion or organ donation.
It would throw Alex for a loop. In the jam-packed DOOL winter preview, it looked like Stephanie and Alex were planning to get married.
Stephanie was wearing a pretty white dress as Alex was literally sweeping his lady love off her feet. We can imagine Joy coming back into the picture right when Stephanie and Alex are planning their wedding.
Alex hasn’t even given Joy or their past relationship a single thought since she left for New York. Plus, despite soaps’ timelines often not measuring up to real life, Joy would be due to have her baby sometime this winter.
Imagine the drama that would ensue if Joy returned. Stephanie and Alex already have their hands full with Stephanie’s abusive ex, Jeremy Horton (Michael Roark), being in town. It would be a double whammy if Joy popped up again.
Joy could come to Salem and finally reveal the truth to Alex. Perhaps she would even ask for his help in raising the child.
Would it put a stop to his plans to marry Stephanie? We have to wonder whether it would give Alex pause, since kids are definitely on Alex’s agenda.
