‘General Hospital’ spoilers suggest that Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) and Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell) may be headed for a “Pretty Woman” romance.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael And Jacinda Are Like Vivan And Edward
For younger viewers or those who may not have seen “Pretty Woman,” the movie centers on Vivian, a hooker with a heart of gold, played by Julia Roberts.
Vivian is hired by the affluent and wealthy businessman Edward, played by Richard Gere. He hires her to be his “date” and “keep him company” as she escorts him to key engagements.
Vivian’s job with Edward was basically to escort him to business and social events, as he was in Los Angeles to plan a major corporate takeover. Oh, and Vivan also had to pretend to be his girlfriend.
We can kind of all see where this financial arrangement between Michael and Jacinda is headed. He’s paying her to pretend to be his girlfriend to help him bolster his alibi for the night Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) was shot.
He’s also helping Jacinda with her alibi. On the October 24th episode of GH, Michael took their relationship a step further by offering to pay her to fall in love with him.
Michael will set her up with a respectable job or career, so that she’s no longer a sex worker, making their pretend relationship more believable.
The setup resembles the plot of “Pretty Woman” in the sense that Michael is paying Jacinda with the intention of transforming her from a call girl into a “classy woman.”
Michael would give Jacinda a job with a title and salary, and pay her under the table. Interestingly, Jacinda seemed genuinely eager to learn something in the process.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael Could Help Jacinda Turn Her Life Around
Unsurprisingly, Jacinda accepted his generous offer and sealed the deal with a passionate kiss. Their “fake” romance appears to be developing into a genuine bond and a mutual desire to take down Drew.
We had to love it when, in the October 23rd episode of the soap, Jacinda told Drew where he could stick it. It was refreshing to see her stand up to Drew after he warned her that he would report her to the PCPD if she didn’t agree to testify against Michael.
What we really like about Michael and Jacinda is that, despite her past, she’s strong and independent, much like Vivian in “Pretty Woman.” Michael needs a formidable partner who can be his equal.
Besides, this is not the first instance in which Michael has become romantically involved with a woman with a taboo profession.
Michael’s first love was a former stripper named Abby Harver (Andrea Bogart). The pair was introduced by the late Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) (RIP).
Michael was younger than Abby, but they ended up in a relationship anyway. Michael also got her a job working at ELQ. He appears to be enamored with women with shady pasts.
We can see Jacinda working as a model at Deception, or even at Crimson or Aurora. She seems like a smart woman and would excel at whatever it is they have her do.
It’s going to be fun to watch Jacinda and Michael share a true connection as they get to know each other. Much like Vivan and Edward, we predict that these two won’t have to play pretend for very long.
