Days Of Our Lives spoilers share that Doug Williams III (Peyton Meyer) joined the Days canvas in December 2024.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Doug III Was Written As A “Grifter” And A “Bad Boy”
Doug III is the grandson of the legacy character, the late Doug Williams (Bill Hayes). When he arrived in Salem, he introduced himself to his grandfather’s widow, Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes), at Doug’s graveside.
The character was written as a grifter and a “bad boy.” He stole Alice Horton’s (Francis Reid) necklace, a precious family heirloom.
Doug enlisted the help of Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) to fence it. Apparently, he was in deep with some scary loan sharks.
Within the next few months, Doug became the spoiler in Holly Jonas’ (Ashley Puzemis) and Tate Black’s (Leo Howard) teenage romance.

He reluctantly accepted Holly’s help to pay back the thugs he owed money to. These hoodlums continued to harass him for cash, and basically, the character was written into a corner.
Holly and Doug had potential, but the show went in the predictable direction of bringing Tate and Holly back together. Tate blabbed to Julie about Doug pilfering the necklace.
Julie promptly tossed him out, and Doug continued to grift and float around without a definitive purpose or storyline. Still, he vowed to get the necklace back for Julie.
He managed to get a job at the Brady Pub and slept with Gabi Hernandez’s (Cherie Jimenez) daughter, Arianna Horton (Marrissa Reyes).
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Doug Brought Julie’s Necklace Back To Her And Found Redemption
Ari and Holly were both kidnapped by whoever was targeting Doug, and Tate insisted that after they found the girls, Doug would leave town.
In an ironic twist, it was revealed that Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) purchased the necklace and showed up at the Horton Home wearing it. Somehow, in the end, Doug retrieved the necklace from Gwen’s hotel room.
July 25, 2025, marked the character’s last airdate, and it was clear from his final scenes with Julie that the soap never developed a story to fully explore the potential of the character, Doug Williams III, and the actor, Peyton Meyers.

Doug’s last stop before leaving Salem was at Julie’s house to apologize and give her back the necklace. Seaforth Hayes and Peyton Meyer’s last scenes together were beautifully written, and both actors delivered powerful performances.
It was fitting that Doug finally found redemption. Julie had Doug put the necklace on her as she forgave him for his past transgressions.
Julie’s face lit up like a Christmas tree as she looked in the mirror at herself wearing the necklace, which she had never expected Doug to bring back to her.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Susan Seaforth Hayes And Peyton Meyer Delivered Powerful Performances In Their Final Scenes Together
The scenes were abundant with emotional depth and at least gave the fans closure to his storyline. The two shared a moving and poignant moment when they bonded over family.
After Doug told Julie about a pair of cufflinks that his grandfather once owned, Julie went into the living room to retrieve her husband’s pocket watch, which he carried with him during his days as a World War II fighter pilot.
Julie lovingly told Doug,
“He always said it brought him luck, and perhaps it will do the same for you,”
Julie, of course, admitted that Doug has a great deal of potential, which was exactly what we were thinking. She asked him to come back when he got his life together and show her how well he was doing. The scene was so touching that it made me shed a few tears.

We have to wonder how Susan Seaforth Hayes was robbed of her Emmy nomination this year. Not to mention, we also want to know why a talented newcomer like Peyton Meyers was so spectacularly wasted on the soap.
We sincerely hope we get to see Peyton Meyers in Salem again someday, and that he’ll once again share scenes with the legendary Susan Seaforth Hayes.
