Meghan Markle has been accused of using the Republic of Tea as her tea supplier to rip-off customers who purchase her As Ever tea products.
Meghan Is Selling Her Tea For Three Times The Cost Of The Republic Of Tea
The scam? The Duchess of Sussex is selling her tea for three times the price. According to the Daily Mail, “Meghan’s hibiscus, lemon ginger, and peppermint teas appear to be made by a firm headquartered in Larkspur, California.”
The Republic of Tea offers a diverse selection of teas on its website, featuring branding inspired by popular Netflix hits such as Bridgerton and Downton Abbey.
The firm is thought to be the supplier of Meghan’s $12 teas and $15 flower sprinkles. Comparatively speaking, the Republic of Tea sells its Natural Hibiscus teabags for $11.50 for 36 in a tin, which amounts to $0.32 per cup.
However, on the As Ever website, Meghan sells her hibiscus teabags for $12 for 12 in a tin, as her brand costs $1 per cup.
The “Meghan mark-up,” as it’s been dubbed by royal experts, raises questions about the validity of her brand. She’s certainly not doing the hard work of creating something of her own.
As Ever has been such a fiasco for Meghan, as she has proven herself to be an incompetent and lazy businesswoman. Meghan, more than anyone, should proceed with caution when it comes to her brand since no one trusts her.
While there is nothing wrong, per se, with using another company to source her tea, people are asked to pay a premium price for essentially the same product.
Both Teas Come From Nashville And Likely The Same Distribution Centers
With Republic of Tea, you can get three times the amount of tea for 50 cents less than Meghan’s brand.
Interestingly, one royal expert, Brittany, who has a fabulous YouTube channel called Royal News Network, obtained what she believes is a draft webpage for the As Ever website that was never intended to go live.
Naturally, Brittany “spilled the tea.” On the draft, it says, “Please note that our products are delivered from the Republic of Tea’s fulfillment centers.”
Sources have confirmed that the Republic of Tea is, in fact, the supplier of Meghan’s As Ever teas. Brittany ordered from the Republic of Tea as well as Meghan’s As Ever band.
Brittany happened to see that both teas come from Nashville, which means they are likely from the same distribution centers.
She also pointed out that the draft states, “We partner with best-in-class vendors to bring our product ideas to life, translating our founder’s recipes and bespoke concepts into beautiful, scalable goods.”
The Netflix connection is evident, as Williams Sonoma also made a deal with the streaming giant, and their shortbread cookies with flower sprinkles are far too similar to what Meghan has been selling and passing off as her own creation.
This negative publicity is actually a nightmare for Meghan, who hadn’t entertained the idea that people might compare her tea to her brand’s original supplier, especially when she’s selling it for three times the price.
Meghan Is Practicing A Lazy Form Of Licensing
Meghan doesn’t exactly cover her tracks well, does she? Brittany sparks an intriguing theory that Meghan’s business is essentially a licensing enterprise.
It isn’t a true company with new or proven creations. Obviously, Meghan made deals with other companies since she’s too lazy to come up with ideas herself.
It’s the laziest form of licensing it can possibly be. Meghan is most likely buying products from other companies and passing them off as her own. It’s understandable to have a supplier, but she’s grossly overcharging her customers.
Meghan has claimed on numerous occasions that As Ever was a “passion project.” According to Meghan, she wants to inspire joy. Truthfully, none of this is Meghan’s vision.
Royal experts, fans, and critics agree that her products are all mediocre, pricey, and bland. Her Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan,” was also met with critical panning.
Amusingly, Netflix also has its own wine for Love is Blind, and we would argue that Meghan is likely using it for her Summer Rose, which will launch on July 1st. The same days as Princess Diana’s birthday. Royal fans have slammed her for her decision.
It’s definitely not going to be as good a wine as King Charles’s rose wine. His rose is sold under his Highgrove Gardens label. It is made at Herbert Hall Winery, specifically for Highgrove Gardens, and is sourced from English grapes.
The King’s Sparkling English rose will come out soon, around the same time as Meghan’s As Ever wine. Guess which one of them truly cares about the quality and originality of their products? Meghan’s As Ever brand is nothing but an epic trainwreck.
