Elsewhere, there’s a parallel between the actor and the character. Baseball, a love of Hogestyn’s, will be a huge part of the funeral as Paul Narita (Christopher Sean) talks about how it brings people together. As he does, we see a baseball in a display case alongside a picture of John in baseball gear.
Rachel Black (Alice Halsey) gets into the action, as she says that he’s saying, “Take me out to the ballgame.” Marlena will follow up by saying, “And I bet he was calling out, ‘Swing for the fences’.” We wonder if this is a part of the dream Rachel had that ultimately turned into a nightmare. She did talk about having a dream where John died.
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of Monday, June 9 to Friday, June 13: Memories
Finally, Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal a blast from the past. Long-time fans of the show are going to have something to look forward to amongst the sadness of the week. The promo starts with a narration about how John defined heroism and romance for 40 years. As the narrator speaks, we see a bunch of flashbacks on the screen. A couple of those have already been shown. We remember at least one in particular from right before John passed. But we’re sure more will be included to pay tribute to the character and actor.

For new fans, this will gives us a little bit more to remember John by and maybe more insight into his past and motivations. We started watching around 2018, so we saw John in action plenty of times, and in his full glory. However, like with Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston), we can’t help wishing we’d seen more. Even though we saw far more adventure and action out of him than Victor. But with some characters, you find yourself wishing that you’d watched from the beginning of his run. John is one of those, and the show won’t be the same without him.
