In a heartwarming display of love and commitment, “Bachelorette” alum Katie Thurston and comedian Jeff Arcuri have tied the knot in an intimate backyard ceremony, just days before Katie begins her cancer treatment. The couple’s decision to expedite their wedding plans was driven by Jeff’s unwavering support and desire to stand by Katie’s side through her challenging journey.
Katie, 34, who recently received a stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis, and Jeff, 36, exchanged vows in their own home on Saturday, March 22nd, surrounded by their parents and their dog, Charlie. The intimate ceremony was a testament to their deep bond, with Jeff emphasizing his commitment to being there for Katie “in sickness and in health.”

“You would think it would cause more tribulation or problems between you, but it’s bonded us more than anything else, which is why we’re moving up the wedding a little bit,” Jeff shared in an interview with Us Weekly, just days before the ceremony. Katie, visibly emotional, recalled Jeff’s “sweet sentiment of being there for me” and becoming her husband before she begins her treatment.
Katie is set to participate in the I-Spy breast cancer trial, which aims to provide personalized treatment based on a patient’s tumor. The treatment will involve several rounds of chemotherapy, followed by surgery. The couple plans to have a larger celebration after Katie completes her cancer journey.
The couple’s love story began on Instagram, where Katie first encountered Jeff’s comedic talent. “If you’ve ever looked at his page, you just can’t help but truly fall in love with him as a person. His personality — he’s so pure and just charming,” Katie shared. They met in person for the first time in May of last year and were engaged by August.
Jeff’s unwavering support has been a source of strength for Katie during this challenging time. “He is proving that he’s here to stay. He shows up every day and he does it in ways that just continue to surprise,” Katie said. Jeff, in turn, expressed his desire to be by Katie’s side throughout her treatment. “I want to be able to be in the hospital with her and just be like, ‘My wife’s in there.’ There’s more power to that,” he shared.
Prior to her cancer treatment, Katie underwent fertility treatments at RMA of New York, as chemotherapy can impact reproductive health. The couple retrieved six embryos, preserving their option to have children in the future.
Katie has also used her platform to raise awareness about breast cancer, encouraging others to get checked. “The amount of times that she walks into a room reading a message from somebody saying they got checked because of her — she’s taking what’s happening to her and doing good,” Jeff shared.
The couple’s intimate wedding ceremony and their commitment to facing Katie’s cancer battle together is a testament to their love and strength.
