Harrison Butker, the kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, has had incredible success in his chosen field over the past few years. The Georgia Tech product was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round in 2017 and has helped his second NFL team win three Super Bowls.
In 2023, he set a career-high by making 94.3% of his field goals in the regular season and going 11-for-11 in the postseason.
Butker recently spoke at Benedictine College’s commencement in Atchison, Kansas, a liberal arts college. Butker addressed several points about President Joe Biden, COVID-19 and eventually spoke about embracing masculinity and his role as a father and devout religious man.
However, now he has been targeted for his speech saying he was hatemongering and claiming that “women belong in the kitchen”.
Butker said, “I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you. Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”

“I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother. I’m on this stage today, able to be the man that I am, because I have a wife who leans into her vocation,” Butker continued.
Harrison spoke about how his wife made the decision to be a mother, and give up her career for a family and how she is very happy now. They are happy.
They are doing their thing. Of course, this has been twisted and turned. Now, he is being misconstrued as a homophobe and claiming he said women belong in the kitchen. However, this is not what happened at all.
Butker gave a pretty decent speech… were there moments where he showed his own personal opinion? Of course. If he were bashing the former President, no one would care. Of course, here we are. It should also be noted that the college attendees seemed to enjoy his speech as well, clapping and cheering during it.
