The Philadelphia Eagles faced a double blow on Monday night, not only losing their playoff game but potentially bidding farewell to their Hall of Fame center.

As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jason Kelce conveyed his retirement decision to teammates after the defeat against the Buccaneers in the wild card game. While Kelce has yet to confirm this publicly and declined to speak with reporters post-loss, his visible emotions on the sidelines told a poignant tale.

Looking like he was about to cry, the 36-year-old watched the Eagles lose in the playoffs. His moving passage through a stadium tunnel was captured on camera a few moments later.

Even if this is the end of Kelce’s playing days, his legacy makes him one of the greatest centers in NFL history.

Over the course of 13 seasons, he was named a Pro Bowler seven times, was named an All-Pro five times, and won a Super Bowl. Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Kelce created a character that connected with people outside of football and became a cherished figure.

Especially noteworthy, he co-hosts the “New Heights” podcast with his brother Travis Kelce, which is quickly rising in the charts. The future is still unknown, even though Kelce has shown that he is capable of changing his mind. After appearing to retire after the Super Bowl loss last year, he later made a comeback.

However, this looks like it could really be the end of the road. Fans will miss Kelce, not only for his talent but for his big personality. Even NFL fans who aren’t Eagles fans appreciate Kelce and what he has brought to the game. What an incredible career and we look forward to seeing what he does in his life after football.

    Good luck with everything, Kelce!
