‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that the current state of storytelling on the show has been in a bit of a lull for the last few years. There’s no dancing around it, and unfortunately, we’re stuck watching many of the repeating storylines.
From Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) being the black sheep of the family, love triangles and office room drama and now revisiting Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) fight with sobriety.
It’s been a challenging storyline lately for the Newmans who were kidnapped and drugged, while Nikki was put on an IV of straight liquor and somehow didn’t die… but, based on the last few days and the looks that Nikki keeps giving the alcohol around the Newman ranch, it looks like we’re going to delve back into another drawn-out storyline about her alcoholism.
“Cole & Victoria see Claire while Victor tends to Nikki after she’s finally home.”
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Is Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) Alcoholism An Old, Boring Story?
We’ve already seen Nikki thinking about the alcohol around her home, and many viewers are already wondering why in the world they would keep bottles of liquor around the house with a recovering alcoholic, let alone one that was just hooked up to an IV of it!
It looks like this is the path we’re about to go down, and unfortunately, we’ll have to deal with it. We just hope that with the holidays coming up, they won’t put her through too much torture so we can have a fantastic Christmas episode.
Meanwhile, we’re still hoping that they’ll at least use this opportunity to do something with Adam and have it so he ends up helping Nikki, forcing her to realize he’s not the worthless step-son she’s always considered him. He could be the bigger man, help her through her problems, and perhaps even bond over it which is something I think many viewers would be interested in seeing.
What do you think? Would you like to see Adam and Nikki bond, or will the writers draw out the storyline too long and make it a complete snore fest? Let us know in the comments below.
