The death of Nashawn Breedlove is a tragedy.  The Famed rapper passed away suddenly at the age of 46, with the cause of his death unknown. He was well known for his legendary rap scene with Eminem in “8 Mile”.

Every fan of Eminem has seen his partly autobiographical story in the iconic 2002 movie “8 Mile.” It is the inspiring story of a Detroit white rapper who dares to try to make a name for himself in the world of hip-hop.

The Rap Battle Between Lotto and Rabbit

One of the flick’s best parts is when Eminem’s character, Jimmy, better known as “Rabbit,” engages in a rap battle with Nashawn’s character, Lotto, who is a member of the rap group “The Free World.”

The rappers go to a place called “The Shelter” to rap battle each other, and Jimmy and Lotto battle at the end of the movie. It is a subject for debate who officially won the battle. Some say Em, some say Nashawn. “Rabbit” was the clear and official winner, but Lotto gave him a formidable opponent.

It is common knowledge that if you want a rapper who is a clever genius and can spit the best punchlines in the world, you go with Eminem. He’s the master of his craft. However, Lotto had every word directly on the beat, and the flow was perfect:

That being said, Nashawn Breedlove was an incredibly fierce and talented rapper. Who doesn’t remember his battle with Em:

“I feel bad that I gotta murder that dude from Leave it to Beaver. I used to like that show, now you got me in fight-back mode….,”

    Spat Lotto to Rabbit.

Eminem was his usual awesome self,

“Ward, I think you were a little hard on the Beaver. So was Eddie Haskell, Wally, and Ms. Cleaver. This guy keeps screaming; he’s paranoid. Quick, someone gets his a*s another steroid.”

The rap battle was epic and second only to Eminem’s final battle with Papa Doc. It was something to remember for Nashawn to go up against the likes of Eminem and be as clever and quick as he was. The flow of his side of the rap battle was brilliant. You could see he was obviously gifted.

We Will Miss and Remember Nashawn

Nashawn passed away suddenly in his sleep on Sunday in his Newark, New Jersey home. His cause of death is unknown.

Breedlove and Eminem in 8 mile

Before 8 Mile, Breedlove was featured on the soundtrack to the 2001 movie, “The Wash,” an action comedy film showcasing Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. Breedlove rapped under the name “Ox.”

The film also featured A-list hip-hop artists Eminem, Ludacris, Shaquille O’Neal, Xzibit, and comedian Pauly Shore.

Breedlove’s mother, Patricia, confirmed his death on Facebook. She said,

“Nashawn was a rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. No one could deny his talent. Nashawn’s departure from this world has left an immense void in my life, one that words cannot fully express. I can’t put into words the pain and hurt that I feel. He was not just my son; he was a remarkable man whose character and strength inspired all who crossed his path.”

Breedlove’s friends and family immediately took to social media to honor him and discuss what made him so special. Everyone had something to say about his impeccable talent. He will forever be associated with one of the best hip-hop-oriented films of all time. We will miss and never forget Nashawn.
