Allegations that a married anti-slavery activist who served as the model for the “Sound of Freedom” movie molested seven women when they were serving abroad missions and took advantage of a Mormon elder have plagued him.
According to Vice News, Tim Ballard, who created Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) ten years ago, unexpectedly left in June when the organization began looking into the sexual misconduct allegations against him.
According to sources familiar with the inquiry, Jim Cavaziel’s on-screen character, Tim Ballard from “Sound of Freedom” reportedly requested women to play the role of his “wife” on covert operations to rescue sex-trafficking victims.
During the trips, he allegedly put pressure on the ladies, telling them it was important to deceive the traffickers by having them share a bed or shower with him.

Ballard, a former employee of the Department of Homeland Security, was also charged with sending a woman a picture of himself wearing just his underpants and inquiring about her willingness to go to any lengths to save kidnapped children.
Ballard’s abrupt departure from O.U.R. was made public three months ago, but neither he nor the organization provided an explanation at the time. The investigation’s conclusion wasn’t immediately apparent. The charges of sexual harassment have not been addressed by Ballard publicly.
O.U.R.’s spokesman also declined to respond to the accusations made against Ballard but did provide a statement about the group on Monday saying that they’re, “dedicated to combatting sexual abuse, and does not tolerate sexual harassment or discrimination by anyone in its organization.”
“O.U.R retained an independent law firm to conduct a comprehensive investigation of all relevant allegations, and O.U.R continues to assess and improve the governance of the organization and protocols for its operations.”
