If you live in Chester County, Pennsylvania, lock your doors and stay vigilant. The manhunt is on for Danelo Cavalcante, the escaped killer in Pennsylvania.

    Danelo's victim Deborah Brandao

He was convicted of stabbing and killing his girlfriend, Deborah Brandao. Deborah had two children, age four and seven, who watched this man kill their mother. The Brazilian police want him for another murder in 2017.

Sentenced to life behind bars, Cavalcante decided he didn’t want to serve his sentence.

The first time he tried to escape was back in May, but corrections officers caught him immediately and hauled him back into jail.

The killer escaped prison by scaling two parallel walls with his body in a horizontal position. Climbing onto the roof, he essentially crab-walked his way out of jail.

He escaped nearly two weeks ago, and the Pennsylvania State Police have been looking for him ever since.

    The Timeline of Cavalcante’s Escape

First, he hid at Longwood Gardens in Kennet Square, Pennsylvania. Then, he fled to Pennsbury Township. He ended up on the grounds of the French Creek Elementary School.

Cavalcante broke into homes and stole food and clothes. He also shaved to transform his looks so no one could recognize him. Then, he stole a dairy van because the keys were in it.

The fugitive shaved to change his appearance

Finally, when the van ran out of gas, he abandoned it in East Nantmeal Township near French Creek—this area in rural southeastern PA. is where Cavalcante has been for 24 or more hours.

He saw an open garage with the owner inside, walked in, and picked up a 22 rifle with ammunition and a scope. The owner saw him and attempted to shoot him seven times with a revolver. He escaped unharmed, and now he is armed and dangerous.

Someone spotted Cavalcante in Chester County’s South Coventry Township on Monday night (September 11, 2023). The search is on to find Cavalcante.

Police said they found a hoodie and shoes that may belong to Cavalcante. Someone spotted the convict again along the south side of Fairview Road west of Route 100.

State police and a Border Patrol tactical team searched the area tirelessly for Cavalcante. Now the FBI, United States Marshals, drones, planes, helicopters, and brave K-9 officers are looking for him too.

Lock Your Doors and Stay Vigilant: Nearby Residents Told to Shelter in Place

The police sent messages to Chester County residents on their cell phones to lock up their houses and shelter in place. The police are also concerned that Cavalcante may attempt to flee to Brazil.

Cavalcante’s mother claims her son is “fighting for his survival.” He was trained for survival because the family was poor, and he had to work when he was five.

Cavalcante’s mother said that she knows her son made a “mistake,” and she knew that what her son did was “wrong,” but that life in prison or being killed by police was “unjust.”

I wonder how the Cavalcante’s victims’ families feel about these statements. The courts placed the fugitive in prison for a reason, and he shouldn’t get away with what he did to his girlfriend or any of his other victims.

If you live in the area, be careful; if you see Cavalcante, do not approach him. He is armed and dangerous.
