“Things are taking some turns in Genoa City, and “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers are looking forward to seeing where these changes are going.
Of course, we’re not going to get ahead of ourselves just yet as it appears pretty clean cut the writers are trying to redeem Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) after years of him bullying and manipulating his children.
So without further ado, let’s dig into some spoilers!
“The Young and the Restless” Spoilers: Let him fall
A couple of years ago Victor told Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to let Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) fall so he’d learn something. While Billy didn’t fall and found a way to change and grow, at least for now.
It appears after Adam Newman (Mark Grossman)’s latest stunt Victor is finished with him and will be intent on Adam learning to be accountable for his actions. What that is will be interesting to see, especially since being held accountable is something Victor hasn’t had to deal with for some time.
This brings “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers back to our initial point where having Adam fall so hard and pull something so obviously going to fail — showing Victor doesn’t care about making a bad business decision if it keeps his children under his thumb — makes Victor look sympathetic.
It’s a tried and true way of redeeming a character, but in this case having everyone fall in line behind Victor feels a bit forced and we’re not buying it.
If they want to redeem Victor, then let him face legitimate consequences for his decisions rather than making Adam the dark sheep once again.
Having his children, including Victoria, leave his company and start their own would be a good way to do it, but that’ll never happen. Victoria will die in the CEO seat at Newman Enterprises and it’ll always be someone else’s fault to save Victor from learning and growing anymore.
“The Young and the Restless” Spoilers: Nick’s turn
With Adam thinking he and Victor have an understanding, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will return to find him talking with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), and Nick will go off.
Sure, he’ll be upset and think Adam arranged the whole meeting with Sally, but he’ll already be fired up after hearing about Adam’s attempt to blackmail Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver).
Like the good son, he’ll rip into Adam about it, and while we think this is to redeem Victor, it’ll end up making Adam look like the sympathetic character.
There are redundancies in the two companies, and if he wasn’t involved there wouldn’t be an issue with merging it with Newman Media.
We’re looking forward to seeing how this works out and if we’re wrong about the writers trying to redeem Victor. What do you think?
