Summer has had a really rough time. Her mother Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) faked her own death and Summer was very affected by the loss.
Then, Summer was the first person to find out that her mother was actually alive after all. Her mother didn’t want her to tell anyone because we wanted to figure out how she could return to Genoa City without facing charges.
Summer kept it a secret, but the cost was very high. When Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) found out that Summer knew the truth but kept it from him, their marriage was irrevocably damaged.
Kyle was upset because his mother, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), was imprisoned for Phyllis’ “murder”. Summer knew there was no murder and should have told him so that Diane could be free.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Emotional Distress
Summer is distressed because her mother’s situation is messy, and she might face charges herself for helping her mother. She also has lost her marriage, since Kyle Abbott has moved on and is sleeping with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver).
Summer feels discouraged and hopeless. She wishes she could figure out how to forgive and let Kyle go, but it is really difficult.
Chance Chancellor offers to listen. He has gone through many of the same things she is going through. When he and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) broke up, it was heart-breaking for him.
It took him time to get over his pain and forgive. He poured himself into work to do so, and Summer has a great job at Marchetti she can focus on.
Chance is also emotionally supportive to Summer, encouraging her not to put herself down. He wants her to believe in herself. As they connect this way, will this lead them to having stronger feelings for one another? Will there be a love triangle between Summer, Chance, and Sharon? What do you think?
