‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that things may be all up in the air with Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) at the Grand Phoenix right now, but in Melissa’s real life, it looks like things are going pretty peachy. Her second daughter, Sophie Jolie, just celebrated her second birthday on the 9th, making her a sagittarius! And the instagram pictures are just adorable! She posted an insta-collage filled with memories about her baby’s birth and, in it we can see hubby Justin Gaston whom she married in 2012 and her other baby girl, little Olivia, whom the couple welcomed into their lives via adoption in 2016.

Just a few months before little Sophie was born, Ordway sat down with Soap Opera Digest to discuss the details of her pregnancy, saying that she had a sneaking suspicion that she might be pregnant when she found out but she didn’t know for sure. When she found out she was ecastatic, she took seven pregnancy tests for fear of a false positive! Her doctor laughingly told her that if she got a positive result 7 times on a pregnancy test, that chances are she was pregnant. She was ecstatic, but also worried, because the doctor told her that it was best not to be entirely open about the pregnancy until the second trimester.

All of this happened during a time in which her character, Abby, kept getting a lot of bikini scenes, so she knew she had to say something. “As an actress, that scares you because you’re afraid they’re going to be mad.” Biting the bullet, she sat down and wrote Mal Young, executive producer and head writer at Y&R and told him to call her when he had the chance. When they spoke, she said that he was really lovely and supportive of her pregnancy, so that’s awesome. Now she has her own two precious baby girls to celebrate life’s milestones with.

As for her character, Abby, she said back in the 2017 interview, she said that Abby is too career-focused to be bothered with a family right now and it doesn’t look like much has changed in the past couple of years, honestly. She’s busily working away at the Grand Phoenix, unless things really start to develop with her brand new crush, Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz), and then, maybe Abby would consider a family? I theorize that it would take an epic tale of love and a lot of convincing for Abby to come down out of her corporate cloud anytime soon. But hey, I could be wrong!
