Christine and Paul have had a long relationship. He rescued her when she was kidnapped by Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc). They ended up getting married but then found themselves involved in other entanglements. They remarried each other in 2013.
Everyone has been asking Christine about Paul. When people have asked her, she has said that he is in Portugal visiting his granddaughter Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant) and daughter Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom). Socially Christine has appeared alone, and she has just given this excuse to whoever has asked. She has not shared any other information.

The emotions of the past few days with the ‘death’ of Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) have been difficult for everyone in Genoa City. People are feeling sad and fragile. When Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) catches up with Christine at Society, it is difficult to talk without emotion.
Lauren has been good friends with Phyllis, and she says that she has cried all of the tears she had in her. She feels dried out and numb.
While Christine was actually enemies with Phyllis, it falls to her as district attorney, to determine whether or not there has been foul play. She is also heavily involved in the situation because things seem suspicious.
Lauren can tell that Christine has other things on her mind and begins to ask what is bothering her. Christine finally admits that her marriage to Paul is over. They are going their separate ways after trying to make it work. She has this deep emotional pain of her own.
Lauren promises to be there for Christine whenever she needs a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. She can count on Lauren to be her support through this difficult time.
While the news about her personal life is surprising, Christine has her work cut out for her with this case. She will have to make some decisions about justice for Phyllis. As she does this, she may also be in a position to be on the lookout for love.
