In her recently released documentary, “Pretty Baby”, Brooke Shields divulged that she was sexually assaulted in the year following her graduation from Princeton.
Brooke Shields Recalls Being Raped After Graduating-‘I Just Absolutely Froze’
Speaking about the rape, Shields stated that she had dinner with an individual who she knew to discuss potential projects. This man is said to have convinced her to return to his hotel room, and he promised to call her a cab to take her back home.
She pointed out that when he came back to the room without any clothes on, he had a set of binoculars that he was using in order to observe the volleyball players out of the window. In her comments, she said: “I go up to the hotel room, and he disappears for a while.
“I put the binoculars down and he’s right on me. Just like, was wrestling. I was afraid I’d get choked out or something. So, I didn’t fight that much. I didn’t. I just absolutely froze. I thought one ‘No’ should’ve been enough, and I just thought, ‘Stay alive and get out,’ and I just shut it out.”
After the incident, Shields, at the age of 57, shared that she took an elevator to the ground floor, took a taxi and wept during her journey to her friend’s house. She had difficulty comprehending that she had been violated and she felt responsible for the event.
Years later, the celebrity explained that she had written to him, hoping to get an answer about what happened, but she never received any response. Her following comments confirmed as much: “I wanted to erase the whole thing from my mind and body and just keep on the path I was on.
“The system had never once come to help me. So, I just had to get stronger on my own.” Shields had a lot of courage in speaking about this, as there was no obligation on her to do so.
