Tragedy struck when an Argentinian supporter, known as Sebastian Oscar Maciel, was killed after the flag he draped around himself became ensnared in his motorcycle.
Argentinian Fan Dies After Being Choked To Death As His Flag Got Caught In His Motorbike While Celebrating The Country’s World Cup Triumph
Aged just 22, he passed away suddenly when he failed to get enough oxygen while celebrating Argentina’s victory in the World Cup on Sunday, 18th December 2022, in Bahia Blanca, Buenos Aires.
A source confirmed the following: “The man appears to have died when an Argentinian flag he was wearing tied around his neck like a cape got caught in one of the motorbike’s wheels and choked him to death.
“Various witnesses saw him fall to the ground and realised he had the flag around his neck.” This is a horror story at a time when the whole country has been celebrating a monumental feat.
Argentina’s captain Lionel Messi dispelled any doubts that his form had declined with a superb performance in the final against France to claim his first ever World Cup. And in the process of doing so, he staked his claim as the greatest footballer of all time.
But away from the sporting success, those connected to Sebastian have been left in mourning. The fans on social media were taken aback by the death. Large numbers of people came out in droves in order to express their sadness at the freak accident that took away the life of someone who went before their time.
After all, at the age of 22, he had the whole world at his feet. One person wrote: “That’s so sad, tragic accident, I often see people riding their cycles with their jackets open and fluttering in the wind, traffic overtaking them, they could so easily get snared into the passing vehicles.
