US Rapper Azealia Banks Cancels Australian Gig, Citing The Most Racist, Most Demoralising Experience As Her Reason

Azealia Banks, a popular United States-based rapper, has declared that she will not be visiting Australia again.

The performer has cancelled a scheduled performance last minute after declaring that a concert she had done in Brisbane was the most ‘demoralizing experience’ of her life. Azealia, for her part, has not had the best of times in Australia when we look at her prior track record.

In 2013, in Melbourne, at the Listen Out Festival, she had to leave the stage after just 90 seconds of performing as a beer can had been thrown at her. During the same tour, a can of beer was thrown at her Sydney performance.

She apologized to those in Melbourne who were affected by the actions of one person. The event promoters for Bank’s Australian tour announced that anybody with a ticket would receive an automatic reimbursement after the concert had been cancelled. With that being said, Azealia cancelled her show to the disappointment of fans.

In her comments, she said: “I’m so sorry you guys – actually I’m not sorry – but listen: last time I was in Brisbane and y’all threw s*** on the stage and damn near almost f***ing hit me in the face with a f***ing bottle of soda or whatever that s*** was.

“That was the most racist, most demoralising experience of my f***ing life and right now I’m on a really good track.” The fans on social media had a different take on the matter. A certain subset of people felt that the star had disappointed the fanbase by cancelling her gig at the last minute.

This was particularly since the incident which had impacted her had happened somewhile previously. One person wrote: “You’re bats**t crazy. Your actual fans paid money to see you and at the last hour you flip them because you’re tripping out on something that happened at a festival six years ago?!”
