Ex-Trump Press Secretary Mercedes Schlapp Urges Parents To Boycott American Girl For Promoting Puberty Blockers On Young Girls

A former White House employee has called on parents to refuse to buy merchandise from the well-known American Girl doll corporation, due to the dispute over its latest book which provides teaching for young girls on how to take puberty blockers and transition, all without the permission of their guardians.

On Thursday, 8th December 2022, Mercedes Schlapp, who formerly served as press secretary for both President Donald Trump and President George Bush, issued a call to action, adding to the already mounting public pressure on the toy company.

A Smart Girl’s Guide: Body Image is a book, by the company, that gives preteens tips on how to switch their gender and also provides a list of resources to utilize if they are unable to confide in a reliable adult. With that being said, Schlapp did not hold back.

In her comments, she said: “The mere fact that you have a company that parents and so many children have enjoyed through the years… to then include this very distorted and disgusting view of how girls shouldn’t be proud of their bodies.

“In the sense that, if you’re not happy with your body, go ahead and medically change it, I think, is dangerous.” The news of this event has quickly spread, resulting in parents using social media to criticise the company which was previously renowned for its expensive dolls that taught girls about being feminine.

And in the process of doing so, people demanded that parents stay away from the company. One person wrote: “Moving in this direction is very dangerous for these children, our children, our future generations, our societies and our planet.”

“#BoycottAmericanGirl #USA,” while another person stated: “American girl is a groomer doll, cancel em.” With so much pressure being put on the toy company, there are serious question marks over how it should respond. Time will tell how it all plays out moving forward.
