Suzan Mutesi has responded to the allegations of her having purchased 100,000 new Instagram followers after being labeled a ‘fake influencer’.
Suzan Mutesi Denies Allegations That She Is A ‘Fake Influencer’ Following Claims She Bought 100,000 Instagram Followers
Over the course of the last seven days, Mutesi’s account has seen a rise of 108,513 followers, with no reason given for the increase. It has been alleged that Mutesi has artificially increased her fame by purchasing ‘phony’ Instagram followers in order to be invited to celebrity-filled events, receive sponsorships, and land media jobs.
Mutesi insisted that she did not purchase followers and revealed that her account was so popular because of her determined attitude. Additionally, she expressed her dismay that she had to put in more effort than other influencers due to her Ugandan background.
In her comments, Mutesi said: “I did not buy any fake followers. I have been busy working and do not have time to do any of that.” This naturally begs the question: how did her following grow so fast? Well, She expanded on how she has collaborated with artists across the world and not just from Africa.
In addition, she has dabbled into many areas such as fashion, writing and even acting. Therefore, if those comments were taken to be true, it would give her the mass exposure that was needed to grow her following en masse. That is why she blamed any inflated numbers on the presence of other factors.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “The trolls are behind it. They are the ones buying the followers to try and discredit me and make me look bad. It’s not fair.”
The fans on social media continued to praise Suzan. And in the process of doing so, they sent out some very warm words on the impact she was having. One person wrote: “You are strong, keep inspiring me.” As long as her fan base is happy, then Mutesi will not care that much.
