Billie Piper has asserted that celebrity life is injurious and disheartening, and she has made the decision to take on fewer acting roles in the days to come.

At the age of just 15, the now 40-year-old actress/singer burst onto the scene with her first track, Because We Want To, but has since expressed her dissatisfaction with fame.

She gave a negative portrayal of life in the limelight, comparing it to something repulsive, dismal, and sinister. She stated that she was the most content before she became a famous figure.

In her comments, she said: “Fame is awful. It’s gross. It’s such a dark thing. And it will change your everyday experience of life in a way that is depressing, frankly, in my experience of it. When I imagine some of my happiest, and my freest times, most of them are pre-fame.”

In the previous year, Billie announced that therapy was beneficial in managing her reflection on her initial celebrity status and how it related to Britney Spears’ hardships. She explained that for a long time she was unable to view her childhood music videos, but now she has the capacity to look back on it with fondness.

When Billie was 13 years old, she made her debut as a performer in Scratchy & Co. Later on, at 15 years old, she released her initial single, Because We Want To, which set a record as it made her the youngest female musician to reach the number one spot in the UK.

With that being said, she has seen the pressures of being in the showbiz industry. Her following comments confirmed as much: “But I’m tiring of the nonsense of it all. To be honest, I have been since I was 19. It felt quite poisonous from a very early age. Now I’m so grateful that I had those experiences a long time ago.”
