A member of the British Army’s Diversity and Inclusion team, which works with the LGBT community, is alleged to have ‘taken advantage’ of a young male soldier after a work party, according to reports.
British Army LGBT Representative Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Young Soldier-‘He Touched His Penis’
A soldier froze in fear after apparently being sexually assaulted by an officer by kissing him in inappropriate areas (neck and back). Dean Nelson, 33, is accused of sexually assaulting the younger man and leaving him in tears after a Ministry of Defence LGBTQ Christmas ball.
Nelson says that he is innocent of one charge of sexual assault – by claiming that consensual sexual contact occurred between him and the younger soldier. During the MOD Christmas ball, the soldier and the other man had booked a room in a hotel.
The prosecuting attorney told the court how a ‘disagreement’ occurred between the two during the event, therefore forcing the soldier to reject his prior arrangement to stay in the same hotel room.
A group of people, including Nelson, went to the victim’s room after getting some crates of beer and stayed there until in the early hours of the morning, when only the two of them were left. Thereafter, things escalated with Nelson allegedly touching the victim in the chest, abdomen, leg and groin area.
The prosecutor’s comments confirmed as much: “[Nelson] accepts he touched his penis but his case is that [the complainant] initiated the activity and put his hand on his penis. The prosecution’s case is that WO2 Nelson took advantage of the predicament.”
The response on social media was very damning. A significant proportion of people demanded that action be taken as soon as possible in order to hold the defendent to account if it was proven.
One person wrote: “Punishment for him, if found guilty, will have to be something more ‘effective’ and ‘tear jerking’ than a meeting with the Golden Rivet.” The only thing left to do is let the authorities investigate the matter and come to a conclusion.
