Actress Emily Atack Traumatised After Being Sexually Harassed Online Since She Was 10

Having been sexually harassed starting at the age of 10, Emily Atack, 32, says she now feels ‘damaged.’

The actress is set to share her experiences in her new documentary entitled, ‘Emily Atack: Sexual Harassment & Me.’ Being abused online is ‘very tough’, she said, acknowledging that she has been sexually harassed ‘in the streets’ since a young age.

She claims that she has been ‘blamed’ for the shameful things that have occurred to her, since she became famous as Charlotte Hinchcliffe in The Inbetweeners. In her comments, she said: “My whole life, I’ve been sexually harassed, in the streets, I’ve been flashed, it’s happened since I was 10.

“Now I’m sexually harassed online every day, I find it really tough.” With that being said, the documentary provided her with an opportunity to set a few things straight.

According to Emily, people blamed her for the harassment because she was ‘sexually liberated.’ This has been primarily on the basis that she did do photoshoots for men’s magazines. While she admitted she did look back on that with positive memories, those things have changed now. That is why she is looking to tackle her issues head on.

Her following comments confirmed as much: “With this documentary, I am hoping to find answers to the many questions I’ve been asking myself my entire life, and I hope it will go on to help thousands of others too.”

Emily has taken a lot of courage in speaking out against this, as there was no obligation on her to do so. She has even gone to the lengths of speaking to members of parliament in order to help push through a bill that would make it unlawful to do cyber-flashing, a term referring to sending strangers explicit content online.

And hopefully her story will serve as an example to others who may be going through similar issues that it is possible to overcome this. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
