According to Jeffrey Dahmer‘s father, who gave gruesome details of his son’s murderous rampage to Dr. Phil, there were at least a few chances to put an end to his son’s killing spree.
In a three-day Dahmer special that Phil and company are airing this week, Lionel Dahmer is interviewed by the TV host. TMZ obtained a few clips from the interview in which Lionel discusses two occasions when he believes he should have noticed something was wrong with his child.

First, Lionel describes the time when Jeffrey was still residing in Milwaukee with his grandmother, a time when he had already begun to kill people, and how Jeff kept a mysterious wooden box that Lionel suspected contained pornography.
He claims that when he attempted to open it, Jeffrey was able to buy himself a day and then secretly remove a severed human head, which he then replaced with pornographic magazines and the like. Lionel claims he wishes the issue had been raised the day he wanted it to be opened because, if it had been, Jeff allegedly told him after his arrest that the game would have been up, possibly saving lives.
When asked about what he believes led Jeffrey down this dark path, Lionel reveals that Jeffrey used to mutilate animals and purportedly get a sexual high from playing with their internal organs when he was younger and going through puberty. The warning signs were clear in retrospect.
However, Phil’s guests and the families of the victims in general are unhappy with how it was depicted. By the way, these moments that the real-life Lionel talks about are also covered in the Netflix series.
