Kylie Jenner recently released a Batman pallette for Halloween, or at least that’s what she said it was for. (We all remember last year when Travis Scott dressed up as Batman for Halloween, right?) While the collection was cute, it wasn’t quite hyped up.
However her latest holiday collection got its own online ad campaign, a Wizard of Oz collection whose video is… just strange. She keeps implying that this pallete is for the holidays, however, the only holiday we see represented is halloween – which has already passed. It’s not giving Christmas vibes or family vibes or any of the familiar holiday vibes that most of us identify with during the holiday season.
Kylie Jenner’s new makeup collection’s really weird ad campaign
Then again, it’s the Kar-Jenner clan so maybe this does give off holiday vibes to them. We’re sure the in-laws could tell some tales, and you know, we could see some of the Kar-Jenner clan identifying closely with some of the flying monkeys and as of recently Caitlyn could really identify with that one woman in the film… you know, the one that screams, “I’m melting!” at a certain part? So, perhaps for this family it just brings back happy, family reunion at the holidays vibes. Who knows?
The ad starts off by having the Wicked Witch of the West’s creepy green hand wave in front of the camera, then we see “Dorothy Gale” AKA Kylie lying dreamily in a field of poppies. People who have read the book series will recognize the poppy fields as the place where Dorothy slept for like… years on end but that really wasn’t elaborated on in the film. This ad has a very technicolor feel to it, and the products themselves look to be of good quality, we’re just confused by the vibe of the ad campaign is all.
Also it seems that Kylie may be releasing too much too soon, as far as makeup goes, simply because even her most ardent stans won’t be able to keep up. Her prices aren’t that outrageous (after all she learned from the $400 makeup brush debacle when she got called out for that by Jeffree Star), but no one’s going to drop hundreds of dollars on makeup in that short of a timespan, not in this economy, Kylie! Try again. Stay tuned!!!
