Now this is a direction that everyone wants to see him go in. NBC has announced that singer-songwriter Niall Horan is joining music talent show The Voice as a coach for the new season in the spring. Here’s what you need to know.

As many fans perhaps already know, Horan will be encouraging new talent and sharing his experience alongside fellow coaches Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Chance the Rapper.

Horan, Clarkson and Chance the Rapper are taking over from John Legend, Gwen Stefani – Shelton’s wife – and Camila Cabello in the famous red chairs. The new season will be country star Shelton’s last on the show after a 12-year run. Commenting on his new job, One Direction favorite Horan said: “I’m excited to be joining this season of The Voice as a coach. I’m looking forward to meeting and mentoring the new crop of talent while we battle it out with the other teams.”

Meanwhile, another former One Directioner, Harry Styles, admitted to getting headbutted at a concert back in June. Styles was performing his sold-out Dublin show on his Love on Tour world tour when he read out a sign held aloft by fans in the 60,000-strong crowd. “`Tallaght house party?’ I’ve been to Tallaght lots, and do you know what happened?” he said. “I got headbutted! It was great, it was fantastic.”

The fan’s sign was a reference to an incident that occurred in Tallaght when Styles and his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan ended up at a party in the Dublin suburb. During One Direction’s 2018 show at the 3Arena, Harry asked the crowd: “Is there anyone here from Tallaght, I’m going to tell you a story.”

“About five years ago I traveled over to Ireland with young Niall, we went to Mullingar, and we went to another party, didn’t we Niall?” he added.

Horan replied, “Tallaght”, with Styles going on to ask the Mullingar man, “what happened to me in Tallaght? Some fella stuck you a headbutt.”
