Chris, for his part, has been accused of sexual assault by four women. While he denied doing anything of the sort, the very fact of the matter is that he has already suffered some repercussions.
He was cut out from the season finale of the ‘Sex and the City’ spin-off ‘And Just Like That.’ Not only that, but the actor’s appearances on the hit show ‘The Equaliser’ also came to an end.
With so much having happened, coupled with the fact that an investigation is still ongoing, Sarah admitted that it was too much for her to address. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said: “I don’t even know if I’m ready to talk about it…but I don’t think…no [I haven’t spoken with him].
This is hardly surprising for the following reasons. First of all, until the investigation comes to an end, Sarah may be feeling hesitant over approaching Chris. After all, it could inadvertently be seen as her supporting Chris and demeaning the alleged victims in the process.
Secondly, given that Sarah had been so close to Chris by virtue of the fact that she played his wife on screen, there are clearly a lot of mixed feelings. The fans on social media questioned Jessica’s approach towards the allegations.
A certain subset of people felt that if Jessica really believed that Chris was guilty, then she should have spoken out against it. Surely, there would have been something to indicate that he had this tendency.
One person wrote: “If SJP knew Chris was harassing women why was he on SATC for all those years? If SJP didn’t know or didn’t think Chris would harass a woman then why is she so quick to assume he’s guilty?”
