We all know that Josh Duggar is waiting for his sentencing for possession of child pornography, he is asking the court for mercy. He continues to claim that he is innocent and he has told his fans that he will appeal the verdict.
His sentencing is set to take place on May 25 and the prosecutors, in this case, are trying to get him 20 years in prison. They have told the judge that he has a “deep-seated, pervasive, and violent sexual interest in children.” This is why they want him behind bars for a long time.
The Duggars: The Memorandum
Duggar’s legal team wrote a 53-page memorandum that has requested that he only serves five years in prison. He is pleading for leniency. His attorneys wrote, “Even before this court pronounces its sentence, Duggar’s life has already been shattered. His reputation, career, and family have all suffered.” He has been waiting for his sentencing since December.

The case against Duggar shows that he is being charged with downloading numerous files of child pornography and child sexual abuse materials. It looks as if he downloaded it all in May of 2019 on a computer that was used at his car dealership. He has told the court that others had access to this computer, but when they were interviewed, they claimed that Duggar was the only one who used the computer.
Duggar has been involved in a case like this before. He was accused of sexually molesting his sisters, but his father, Jim Bob Duggar, basically brushed this aside saying that he was a curious teenage boy and this was what they did.
Duggar’s attorney added, “Someone accessed this material, viewed some of it, deleted all of it within a few days, and then never sought anything like it ever again. It is only fair that this court places the allegations into the context of cases of this nature and, in that way, this is less severe than the lion’s share of child pornography cases that end up in federal court. But in crafting that punishment, Duggar asks that this court consider the crime within its proper context and consider the person Duggar really is.”
The memorandum had letters attached from his friends and family explaining that he is a good man and innocent.
