It is no secret that Leah has been an outspoken advocate against Scientology after having spoken about her previous experience with the controversial organisation. While that has gone down well with a significant number of people, it seems that Elisabeth did not really have a lot of time for Leah.
This is particularly true since Elisabeth and Leah were nominated at the awards ceremony at the same time. So when Elisabeth had decided to go to the bathroom when Leah walked away with the award, people had a lot to say about it.
But in an interview with The New Yorker, Elisabeth downplayed any malice. She said: “I went to the bathroom. I wish it was more exciting than that.” And yet, this was just the start of it.
Given that Elisabeth is a member of the Scientology movement, speculation started to emerge that perhaps Elisabeth was prevented from communicating to Leah, as per the church’s directives.
And as Leah is such an outspoken person against the organisation, Elisabeth’s conduct was read in that light. And yet, she felt it was much simpler than that. The two simply did not hang out in the same circles.
Elisabeth added: “I have never been approached by her. I have never received any request to talk to her. So there hasn’t been an opportunity for her to say that. I don’t know her that well, so it’s not like we were friends.”
The fans on social media, however, were not convinced. People felt that the timing of her going to the bathroom was far more than just a coincidence. One person wrote: “She’s obviously lying.”
