Andy Cohen has spoken out following the passing of a law that stops teachers in Florida from discussing LGBTQ matters with students up to third grade.

Andy Cohen Slams Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill-‘You’re Scaring People Into Spewing Hate’

Such an issue is bound to be close to Andy by virtue of the fact that he is gay. He made the decision to come out in 2018, which made him the first openly gay host of an American talk show.

Not only that, but he welcomed his son Benjamin a year later via a surrogate. Therefore, he was of the view that this law would ultimately work against people of the LGBTQ community.

In the video here, we can see that Andy is not happy. He is then alleged to have said the following comments: “There is not a mass conspiracy of kindergarten teachers who are plotting to teach children to be gay….You’re scaring people into spewing hate and discrimination at the LGBTQ community.”

Despite what Andy may say, his critics could argue the following factors. First of all, it could be said that the children are at a very young age to understand the issues surrounding the LGBTQ community. Therefore, it would make no sense to introduce the topic.

Secondly, in any event, it could also be suggested that this is the job of the parents, as opposed to the school. But for Andy, he felt the schools should do more. He added: “I thought the whole point of sending our kids to school was to educate them and prepare them for the real world.

“Well, newsflash, the real world has gay people in it.” Not everyone was sympathetic towards Andy on social media. They felt his comments were over the top. And in fact, they only contributed to the hesitancy that had existed with the bill.

One person wrote: “Andy Cohen said that his son wouldn’t be able to talk about his gay parent in primary school. What language in the passed bill states that? It is misinformation.”

The only way to resolve any differences would be for the parents to step up and educate their children on such matters within their personal homes. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
