Lifestyle advocate and Youtuber Sandra Lee has confirmed that she has undergone a hysterectomy following her diagnosis with breast cancer.
Sandra Lee Undergoes A Hysterectomy Following Her Breast Cancer Diagnosis-‘Remember To Have Strength And Courage’
The procedure involves moving parts of the uterus, which was done in response to her diagnosis with breast cancer around 7 years ago. While that may be the case, she understandably had some reservations about going through such an invasive procedure.
But after having apparently read about Amy Schumer and Angelina Jolie’s own struggles with undergoing surgery, she mustered up the courage to do the same.
In an official statement, she said: “So while you’re reading this post I am undergoing hysterectomy surgery. A surgery that so many brave women before me have had to do. It’ll be an everything out procedure and after that, there won’t be any more halo of worry hanging over my head.”
Despite her worries, she will not have to go through it alone. She expanded on how her fiancé, Ben Youcef was there by her side every step of the way. And by having a solid support network in place, she felt more at ease.
There is still the obvious risk of potential complications, but she has not let that cloud her mind. She added: “We must always remember to have strength and courage. Hopefully this will encourage anyone who needs to get a concerning procedure done to take the opportunity now.”
The reaction on social media was one of understanding. People expressed many cases of women that had to undergo a similar thing. But through it all, they managed to overcome it which will give Sandra hope that it is possible to do the same.
One fan wrote: “I know tons of women who have finally gotten [it]. Hysterectomies that have improved their health. It’s a lot to go through, in both fighting to get approved for the procedure and in adjusting to the changes.”
Hopefully, the surgery goes ahead without any hiccups. And the fans will be there to support Sandra every step of the way to make sure she is fine. So there you have it folks.
