The lead singer of the hit band ‘Twisted Sister,’ Dee Snider has given his seal of approval for the Ukrainian people to use his song ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ as a symbol of resistance.

Lead Singer Of ‘Twisted Sister’ Dee Snider Endorses Ukrainians Using His Song ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ As Their Battlecry

Unbeknownst to many fans, Dee does have some connections to Ukraine by virtue of the fact that his grandfather is Ukrainian. And in order to show exactly where he stands on the matter, Dee had been seen circulating various posts on social media with the following hashtags “F–KRUSSIA” and “F–KPUTIN.”

Therefore, if he could play a part in creating dialogue around the conflict or offering some hope, then he was fully behind that. In a post to his fans on Twitter, he said: “I absolutely approve of Ukrainians using “We’re Not Gonna Take It” as their battlecry.”

And in order to show how much he values Ukraine, Dee shared a throwback picture of himself during one of his performances. In the picture here, we can see that Dee is singing at the top of his lungs. And on closer inspection, he can be seen with a badge stating ‘Russia Sucks.’

The post was captioned by the following comments: “Holy Crap! I’m I actually wearing that pin in what looks like about 1978?! (My Ukrainian grandpa would have been so proud!)”

It is not surprising to hear, then, that his music video has been flooded by comments praising him. Not only was this reflected in the increasing number of views, but the comments also endorsed the musician’s masterpiece.

One fan wrote: “You probably had no clue this would become the battle cry for freedom all over the world. Love it and it fits so well with the citizens being fed up.”

At a time where the world is going through a major crisis, musicians like Dee should be commended for using their public platform in a positive manner. And hopefully, this will lead to other high-profile musicians to do the same regardless of the fact that it could impact their career.
