Kanye West has implied that the rise of the cancel culture movement had an impact on the breakdown of his relationship with Kim Kardashian.

The rapper, for his part, had a series of public outbursts that had occurred during the course of his relationship with Kim.

This included the infamous quote in which the rapper stated that ‘slavery was a choice,’ as well as publicly declaring that Kim had tried to get him locked up in a mental institution.

While it is true to say that Kanye does struggle with bipolar, the very fact of the matter is that he felt there was extra scrutiny being placed on him by virtue of his position in the entertainment industry.

During an interview on ‘Hollywood Unlocked,’ Kanye said: “Cancel cancel culture bro. This is from the main person that’s been canceled, that will not be canceled, period.

“You know what I’m saying? Obviously, as a celebrity, there’s a lot of people that are around me that can influence me and no human being is immune to their surroundings.”

Naturally, given that there was an expectation on Kanye to act a certain way, he admitted that this brought extra pressure on their relationship especially since the rapper is known for being independently driven.

This was most notably seen when he decided to publicly express support for none other than former United States President Donald Trump.

So much so that he famously wore the red hats as part of Donald’s ‘Make America Great Again’ campaign slogan, despite concerns from a certain subset of the black community that he was endorsing a man known for having made racial remarks in the past.

That is why Kanye believes that Kim may have been influenced by those within her circle against him. He added: “There’s a lot of people around Kim.

“She’s making certain decisions and she’s just looking for safety, a safe place to be. Because, I do these ideas. Like, if I’m the only person that’s not with Hillary, then she’s getting attacked so much.”

Kanye will continue to do what he thinks is best, regardless of the critics. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
