Musician Neil Young has taken it upon himself to tackle what he believes to be a huge problem caused by Covid misinformation.
Musician Neil Young Threatens Spotify To Remove Either His Music Or Joe Rogan’s ‘Covid Misinformation’ Podcast
There is no denying that an increasing number of people are becoming dissatisfied by the response to the pandemic, which is now approaching approximately 2 years, with no sign of it ending despite the vaccination programme.
That has naturally led to the rise of alternative media, as a way to counter the influence that has always been there from the mainstream.
While it is always good to have a diverse range of opinions, the very fact of the matter is that it can equally make it harder to distinguish between what is genuine and fake news.
That is why Neil has decided to take on Spotify, by giving them the ultimatum of removing either his music or the Joe Rogan podcast from the platform.
In an official statement, Neil was alleged to have stated the following: “Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them.
“I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform. They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both.”
The primary reason why Joe Rogan has come under increasing pressure has been due to the topics he has discussed on his show.
It is alleged that the podcast host has disapproved of vaccinations in younger children, as well as the fact that he has spoken openly on alternative treatments including Ivermectin.
And given that Joe is not a medical expert, there is a feeling that his information could be taken as gospel with potentially catastrophic consequences.
In another statement, a group of scientists remarked: “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Joe Rogan has repeatedly spread misleading and false claims on his podcast, provoking distrust in science and medicine.”
There is a real danger that Joe Rogan could end up being canceled in response to the increasing media scrutiny that is now being subjected upon him. We will have to see how this will all play out.
