Talk about financial karma. There’s a new report that says Prince Andrew is worried that he might end up in “complete financial ruin” as his legal costs are climbing by the minute. That’s because he is being sued for all that he’s got by Virginia Giuffre, who claims that she was trafficked to the prince when she was still a minor. Here’s what you need to know.
According to a new report, the Duke of York is worried that he might end up penniless after he was stripped of his military titles and royal patronages amid his legal battle against Jeffrey Epstein’s victim Virginia Giuffre.
Prince Andrew Is About To Go Broke And It’s No Joke
“Until very recently it appears the absolute enormity of this case and the consequences he faces has not hit him,” one source told the Daily Mail. “Now the bills are mounting up and the possibility of a settlement, or even worse a judgment against him, is being widely discussed; he fears complete financial ruin. There is a very real prospect of him being completely broke.”
Apparently, Andrew’s legal and PR fees could easily add up to $3 million. If that weren’t enough, he will have to cough up more than $13.6 million to settle the case that has been brought by Virginia.
However, Prince Andrew’s legal team argued during a video conference that Ms Giuffre waived her right to sue the Duke when she signed a $500,000 settlement agreement with convicted sex offender Epstein in 2009.
During the hearing, the Prince’s lawyer said: “It’s unquestionable that Prince Andrew could have been sued in the 2009 Florida action. He was not. And therefore he was a ‘potential defendant’ and a release under the 2009 settlement agreement by its unambiguous terms.”
Prince Andrew has pretty much been canceled both in public and behind closed doors because of his association with Jeffrey Epstein and a new lawsuit that has been brought against him.
However, Prince Andrew has asked a U.S. court to dismiss Virginia Giuffre’s sexual abuse lawsuit, as his legal team beleives it’s “frivolous.” Virginia alleges that she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York on a number of occasions while she was still a minor.
