Singer Sinead O’Connor’s world has been turned upside down with the news that her 17-year-old son Shane O’Connor has died.

Reports indicate that her son went missing in Dublin after not being seen for the past few days. As a result, an investigation was held in order to determine whether or not the police could determine the whereabouts of Shane.
The results were then there for all to see. The police had uncovered his body which finally brought the case to a close. As of now, rumours are emerging that her son may have taken his own life.
While there is no concrete evidence of this, the very fact of the matter is that it has left Sinead feeling heartbroken. In a post to her followers on Twitter, Sinead attempted to take a philosophical view on it.
She said: “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.
“May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.” In the short-term, it is clear that Sinead will need to take some time out from the music industry in order to get her thoughts together.
And one way in which she could do that is to rally around the support of her friends and family. Equally, her fans came out in droves to express their sorrow and support for the singer who has been left with a huge void in her life.
One person on Twitter wrote: “So sorry for your loss. I feel your pain my son was failed by mental health services and took his own life in December 2020 it still feels like yesterday.
“Miss him so much. So many young life’s lost by a failing system.” The star will have to manage her emotions going forward. After all, it is no secret that Sinead has also struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues throughout her life.
