And just like that…Sarah Jessica Parker’s (Carrie Bradshaw) real reaction to the Chris Noth scandal has been revealed.
As anyone not living under a rock knows, Chris Noth had one heck of a December, reprising his role as Mr. Big in the new Sex and the City reboot– And Just Like That…– only to be killed off in the first episode.
He was then accused by (initially) two women (the number is now at four accusers and continues to climb) of sexual assault and was promptly dumped by his agent AND from his new project, CBS’s The Equalizer.
Sarah Jessica Parker Is Reportedly “Livid” Over The Sexual Assault Claims Against TV Husband, Chris Noth
While other co-stars, like Zoe Lister-Jones who appeared on Law and Order with Noth and Heather Kristin (the stand-in for Kristin Davis’ character in Sex and the City; Charlotte York) corroborated Noth’s “toxic” and “lewd” on-set behavior, the three main actresses of SATC and AJLT have remained very diplomatic.
The trio, which also included Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbs) put out a very simple statement on December 20 which read: “We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”
While this is a statement that leans very much toward supporting the alleged victims, it still does not offer fans much on the stars’ true thoughts on the horrific allegations.
Now, an insider has shed a little light on how Parker truly feels about the sexual assault claims, telling Us Weekly “She is fiercely protective of Carrie Bradshaw and livid that she and everyone else at the show has been put into this position. It is not about the money, but rather her legacy. Carrie was all about helping women and now, under her watch, women are saying that they have been hurt.”
The insider added that first with Mr. Big’s on-screen heart attack and now Noth’s fall from grace, the actress “feels like there have been two deaths.”
The source continued, “[Parker] takes the power of being Carrie Bradshaw very seriously. With great power comes great responsibility and although SJP knows this is about him, not her, she feels like she has let everyone down.”
Finally, the insider claims that Noth’s on-screen wife had “no idea” about the alleged assaults and feels “blindsided” as she “still processes what has happened.”
Noth continues to deny the claims against him.
And Just Like That drops on HBO Max each Thursday.
