Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker has slammed her critics on social media who have commented on the actress’ grey hair.
Sex And The City Star Sarah Jessica Parker Slams Social Media Over ‘Misogynist Chatter’ About Her Grey Hair
Sarah, for her part, is now 56 years old. And yet, it is important to remember that she is a sex symbol and a sign of female empowerment for many women around the world.
After all, she was widely praised on ‘Sex and the City’ for showing that women could be dominant within society. But given that she is not getting any younger, coupled with the fact that age does catch up with everyone, people came out to make comments about her appearance.
This led to claims that such comments could have deemed to be ageist in nature. However, Sarah was not going to have any of it. She felt that such remarks were motivated by misogynist behaviour, given that it would be highly unlikely for a man to have the same comments.
During an interview with Vogue magazine, Sarah said: “There’s so much misogynist chatter in response to us that would never happen about a man. ‘Gray hair grey hair grey hair.
“Does she have grey hair?’ I’m sitting with Andy Cohen, and he has a full head of grey hair, and he’s exquisite. Why is it okay for him?”
The impact of this came to the fore on social media. Naturally, there is an expectation on high-profile celebrities to look a certain way all of the time.
However, once they are away from the movie screen, it is not abnormal to embrace ageing gracefully. This is something that social media fails to encourage, though.
She added: “They almost enjoy us being pained by who we are today, whether we choose to age naturally and not look perfect, or whether you do something if that makes you feel better.”
It is clear that Sarah is not going to stand for any criticism, and she will continue to do what she thinks is best for her. This is ultimately the reason why she is still revered by many fans across the globe.
