Former NBA star Dennis Rodman was reportedly involved in a dispute with authorities at an airport on the grounds that he failed to follow mask mandates for travellers.
Dennis Rodman Was Confronted By Police After Refusing To Comply With Mask Mandates During A Flight
According to TMZ , witnesses who were on the JetBlue flight that was on its way to Los Angeles alleged that Dennis had been asked on 4 occasions to ensure that his face mask was on and ensure that his mouth as well as his nose were covered.
However, rather than doing just that, it is claimed that Dennis had lowered the mask under his chin. Therefore, when Dennis was asked to comply with what he was being told, the star chose to do his own thing.
Although that may be the case, it should be stressed that Dennis was apparently suffering from breathing problems. As such, if it is ascertained that this is true, then it could be justified on the grounds that he had a medical issue.
And yet, it is not clear whether he had communicated such a thing. In response, the authorities had gotten involved. Dennis had apparently gotten into conversation with deputies from Broward County as the plane landed.
Thereafter, it is suggested that he had cooperated with them and left without any further dispute. Luckily for everyone involved, there was no need for any further action by the authorities.
Nevertheless, the response on social media was very divisive. Some people felt that Dennis should have worn his mask given the rise of the Omicron variant.
And unless he had a medical exemption which he had declared openly, then he should have gone along with what he was told to do.
By the same token, others felt that Dennis was justified in what he was doing as the decision to wear masks should be a personal choice. One person on Twitter wrote: “Still glad I said no to drinking with him.”
Now that this incident is over, Dennis will be better prepared for what could happen in the future when he boards a flight and thus be able to deal with anything that arises.
