‘Survivor 41’ spoilers find that this week saw Danny McCray have his torch snuffed after a tie for last place between he and bestie- DeShawn Radden forced a revote with the former NFL player surprisingly becoming the 6th jury member.
While fans of the Cowboys may know McCray’s name, Survivor fans wouldn’t be amiss to barely be able to pick Danny out of a line up with the lack of airtime he received. Besides the episode when Danny spoke of his feelings about the passing of his father when he was a child, we only ever saw Danny in a challenge, tribal or with his alliance member, DeShawn by his side.
‘Survivor 41’ Spoilers: The Truth Kamikaze and the Cowboy
DeShawn, on the other hand, is all over our screens with this week’s episode being no exception.
We began with DeShawn continuing to ruminate over his inner struggle over playing for the culture or for himself and discussing the plight of people of color with Heather Aldret who apparently lives under a rock and was unaware there is a struggle/racism in this world.
DeShawn is only momentarily off screen so Erika Casupanan can pour out her guilty heart, all cut up over voting Liana Wallace off at the previous night’s tribal council as she wants a woman to win this season. Preferably herself.
Well, it won’t be Heather.
DeShawn is again featured as he, Erika and Xander Hastings win reward and form another haphazard alliance which falls apart the moment Ricard wins his third individual immunity. His presence is beefed up again as he and Danny (hey- look at that, Danny IS there) lament about being on the chopping block
However, it is DeShawn’s truly ridiculous maneuver at Tribal Council–throwing newest shaky-alliance member, Erika under the bus…BEFORE THE VOTE… that truly defined DeShawn’s game play: not very well thought through.
Xander said it best after Deshawn deceived Erika’s confidence and told Heather that her ally has no intention of bringing her to the final three: “Your truth bomb was a little more of a truth kamikaze, my friend.” And this is why Danny’s eventual elimination, not DeShawn’s was all the more shocking.
For whatever the tribe’s reasoning, the Truth Kamikaze hangs on and the Cowboy, who has the chops to keep Ricard from winning a fourth individual challenge, is eating burgers and chilling with the jury at Ponderosa. Meanwhile, Xander, whose name wasn’t even brought up as a possible vote, continues to cruise by with an idol in his pocket, pretty much guaranteeing himself a spot in the final four.
Does ANYONE know what the tribe is thinking?
