Meagan, for her part, has made no secret over the fact that God is very important in her life. However, this is often questioned by her critics pointing out that it is very difficult to reconcile one’s career within the acting industry alongside a belief in God.

The primary contention has been in response to Meagan’s role in the hit show ‘Harlem.’ Given that she has to navigate sensitive issues such as sex on screen, her detractors have commented on how she should not be exploring such topics openly.

During an interview, Meagan spoke on how she only pursues something if it sits well with her. She said: “The choices…some of the things that I wear, some of the things I work on, not everybody in the church understands it.

“And that’s okay because, at the end of the day, it’s between me and God.” Nevertheless, her cause has not been helped by the following reasons. First of all, Meagan is married to a preacher.

Therefore, a subset of people believe that Meagan should be conducting herself in a way that does not alienate her husband’s supporters. Secondly, this has reportedly resulted in a decline in the number of people who had been attending the same church as Meagan.

And yet, Meagan believes that by having dialogue, it is possible to find some common ground, rather than pursuing outright condemnation which she feels does not benefit anyone. She added: “Don’t attack people, don’t abuse people.

“And also, make sure when you’re correcting that God told you to do that because sometimes you’re doing something that he ain’t asked you to do.”

By being in the public eye, it is very difficult for Meagan to act in a way that satisfies everyone. And it all comes down to a single question of how much is she willing to compromise or sacrifice in the way of satisfying either side.

After all, she has to consider what is more important for her: career goals or faith in God. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
