Alec Baldwin has reportedly denied that he had pulled the trigger, which resulted in the shooting and death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Alec Baldwin States He Did Not Fire The Gun On The Set Of ‘Rust’ -‘I Didn’t Pull The Trigger’
That is according to a preview for an up-and-coming interview given by the actor to ABC News. Such a statement is a profound one, given that it would throw the spotlight on the need to hold somebody to account.
After all, a situation has emerged where somebody has died on a film set, but with the authorities being no closer to finding out what had actually happened.
In a preview clip of the interview here, Alec denied pulling the trigger. He said: “The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger.
“No, no, no, no, I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger. Never.” Clearly, this is an emotional time for Alec, given that the clip shows he is struggling to keep himself from breaking down.
Although this is understandable given that his friend and colleague had died, there is also a suggestion that such a move has been made for PR purposes.
After all, Alec’s reputation has been tarnished by this incident, with suggestions being raised that the actor may never return to the movie screen.
This is based on the grounds that he has legal lawsuits to answer for, as well as the fact that his mental health may not ever be the same. And in an attempt to distance himself from controversy, Alec hinted that foul play may have been involved.
He added: “Someone put a live bullet in the gun, a bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property.” The reaction on social media was one of huge condemnation.
This was due to the fact that the trailer had clearly attempted to dramatise the whole situation given the music that was added and the editing that it had gone through. As such, people felt that this situation was being exploited for the sake of publicity.
One person on Twitter wrote: “What in the fresh hell is this profiteering interview? Why they trying to capitalise and dramatise a tragic death. So tone-deaf and disrespectful.”
Time will tell whether this interview does Alec more harm than good. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
