Jason Miller, a worker on the set of ‘Rust’ who had his arm bitten by a spider, will not need to have his arm amputated.
‘Rust’ Staffer Jason Miller Who Had Been Bitten By A Spider Will Not Need His Arm Amputated
This is some positive news in light of everything that had happened on set. Alec Baldwin’s prop gun incident, which killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza, can never be taken back.
And yet, by Jason avoiding injury, he can potentially get back to doing his work as a pipe rigger at some point in the future. According to TMZ: “His left arm will be saved.
“[This is] despite the grizzly photos of his severe reaction to a bite from a venomous brown recluse spider, which bit him while he was breaking down the movie set.”
Nevertheless, Jason wants to ensure that someone is held accountable for his injury. After all, this lack of accountability over injuries in the workplace cannot be allowed to continue.
And with that news, there is also the possibility that he is going to be receiving some compensation as a result of the terrible ordeal he has had to go through.
Justin and Lydia Pizzonia, who happen to be Jason’s attorneys, had this to say to TMZ: “They are prepared to file a complaint against the insurance company for ‘Rust’ if Jason is not properly compensated.”
In the meantime, the wider community has stepped up in order to support Jason. A recent GoFundMe campaign had been set up on his behalf.
This was to ensure that any medical expenses were paid, or that he could sustain himself due to the loss of earnings he had incurred as a result of the injury.
As of now, there has been more than $13,000 raised despite the fact that the initial target was $5,000. With so much support on his side, it is going to be very difficult for the team in charge of Rust to deny having any liability.
If they end up refusing to compensate Jason for his injury, then it is going to send out a very harrowing message as it will show that they have no regard for any of their employees.
